The latest version of low cost Aakash 2 tablet has been launched today November 11, 2012 Sunday by President Pranab Mukherjee. Aakash 2 tablet is launched at a price of Rs. 1,130 for students. Thenew version of  ‘Aakash 2 tablet’, is available to students of engineering colleges and universities. Aakash 2 tablet is powered by a processor running at 1 GHz, having  Ram 512 MB, display of 7 inch with full touch screen and a battery working for three hours. The new Aakash 2 tablet has Android 4.0 OS. The Aakash 2 tablet and has built in Wi-Fi connectivity.

According to Datawind CEO Suneet Tuli, ‘Government is also trying to encourage the state governments to chip in by subsidising it further so that the device can eventually be available to students free of cost.’

As compared to the previous version of the Aakash tablet, the company has now upgraded some of the key features of Aakash 2 tablet for the users.

According to the company the first one lakh device of Aakash 2 tablet will be provided to students of engineering colleges and universities and later on will be distributed to others in the market. It is expected that till Monday 20,000 devices of Aakash 2 tablet will be available to the students.
