Speaking at Ambedkar Sabha, Adityanath said that instead of declaring holidays on such occasions, schools should be open and teachers should hold two-hour special classes on the life and works of these great leaders.
The "Power for All" pact was signed in the presence of chief minister Yogi Adityanath and federal Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power Piyush Goyal at 5 Kalidas Marg, the official residence of the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.
CM Adityanath said school children should be motivated to learn about the tradition of eminent persons and the contribution they made for the country. "This defeats the goal of commemorating a holiday on the occasion".
For the first time ever, the BJP government had ordered all primary government schools to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar though debates and cultural programmes. Adityanath even took the example of Baba Saheb and said, "The struggle and journey of Baba Sahab Ambedkar is a story that has inspired many generations and will continue to do the same in future as well".
Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, UP energy minister Shrikant Sharma and state minister for power Swatantra Dev Singh were also present on this occasion. Rather children would be taught about them on those days.
As per sources, 55 government holidays along with 52 Sundays, summer and winter vacations and examinations leave the schools with 120-odd teaching days.
"There will be no discrimination and injustice in this government rule".
