Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian driver who rammed his vehicle into a bus stop in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday injuring a pedestrian, the army and a hospital spokesman said.
Security forces at the scene killed the Palestinian driver, according to the Gush Etzion spokesman. IDF troops on the scene opened fire, killing the attacker.
Gush Etzion Regional Council head said that the attack was one more attempt by terrorist to subdue Israeli, but "they should understand that this just strengthens us".
Haaretz quoted the Israeli military stating "it was certain the incident was a car-ramming attack", and alleged that "a knife was found inside the vehicle".
According to reports, IDF servicemen killed the assailant, while the injured Israeli civilian was evacuated for medical treatment.
The Palestinian Health Ministry issued an official statement identifying the slain Palestinian as Soheib Mousa Mashahra, 21, from Sawahra town, near occupied East Jerusalem.
In that same time, Israeli forces killed at least 243 Palestinians, majority identified as attackers by Israeli authorities.
A wave of unrest which erupted in October 2015 has claimed the lives of 261 Palestinians, 41 Israelis, two Americans, one Jordanian, an Eritrean, a Sudanese and a Briton, according to an AFP count.
