"And a couple of times he always kept her in the auto and he would be like 'she's asleep, ' you know, and I'm like, 'okay, '" Barry told KOBI.

The main concern is for her emotional well-being, TBI Director Mark Gwyn said.

The caller said an adult male and a young female had been staying in the cabin for about a week. Griffin Barry told CNN affiliate KRCR-TV that Cummins said he was 44 and that his "wife" was 22.

"He was always dominating the conversation. That kind of clues people in", Barry said.

Officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the TBI and the Maury County Sheriff's Office flew the 15-year-old back to Tennessee on a private airplane sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning. Cummins was arrested after he came out the cabin with the girl walking behind him, the sheriff's office said. Deputies set up a perimeter around the cabin and elected to wait until the morning to arrest Cummins as he exited the residence, according to the sheriff's department. The sheriff's office said it found two loaded guns in the cabin with other belongings of the teacher and student.

The teen spent the night in Sacramento and is now on her way back to Tennessee.

On March 13, 15-year-old Tennessee teen Elizabeth Thomas went missing, along with her 50-year-old teacher Tad Cummins.

WBIR reports that the cabin owner was with a neighbor when he first met Cummins and Thomas.

"You know he talked for her a lot". "The two obviously have a relationship. her response to us and to law enforcement escalated up and down". A Tennessee Bureau of Investigation plane landed in Nashville around 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.

A former Tennessee teacher accused of kidnapping his teenage student told Northern California authorities that he was relieved the five-week, nationwide search for him and the girl had come to an end, officials said.

"We're very happy that we're going to see her again", the dad said on "Good Morning America". Cummins may also face state charges in Tennessee and California.

Investigators said Tad fudged information to obtain a $4,500 loan to "meet their financial needs during his suspension from work without pay", court papers say. According to a federal complaint, Cummins, 50, refilled his prescription for erectile dysfunction medication and made reservations for one-bed rooms at multiple Super 8 motels prior to kidnapping Elizabeth.

The pair disappeared as a police investigation into their relationship was heating up.

Elizabeth Thomas and Tad Cummins reportedly seen kissing at Culleoka Unit School by another student.

Friday, March 31, 2017: The TBI confirmed a March 15 sighting of Thomas and Cummins at a Walmart in Oklahoma City.

How they got to Cecilville, California, and why they went there remains a mystery to investigators. In Tennessee, Cummins also will be charged with kidnapping and having sexual contact with a minor. He faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison.

Cummins' estranged wife and two daughters released a statement Tuesday, saying they "appreciate the local and national media for keeping this story in the spotlight". She appeared fine physically, Lopey said, and there were no signs of trauma.

When her father, Anthony Thomas, was asked directly during the interview whether he thought Elizabeth had been "brainwashed" by Cummins, he said, "Yes".

According to Jason Whatley, an attorney for the Thomas family, the 15-year-old is in a safe location where she is comfortable and resting.
