Slated to run July 13 to 16, it would have been the fourth year for the Pemberton, B.C., event.

People who had bought tickets for the festival were incredulous at the news online.

To help deal with the cancellation, Canada's WayHomeFestival has offered passes for anyone who purchased tickets to Pemberton Music Festival. They'll need to file a proof of claim as unsecured creditors with Ernst & Young or contact their bank or credit card issuer to determine if there's any way they'll get their money back. It may take several weeks before it is known whether Huka Entertainment will have the assets to issue refunds to customers.

Some ticket holders may also be able to get refunds from third parties if their tickets were purchased using a credit card, and should contact their bank or credit card issuer regarding a refund, the document says.

Ernst and Young reports the 2017 festival had budgeted expenses of $22 million, while revenue to date was $8.225 million.

"All of us are owed a lot of money", he said.

PMF now joins the Squamish Music Festival, which was cancelled previous year.

Those customers may now be left without the ability to get a refund, as the festival owes creditors around $2.5-million United States dollars.

Pemberton Music Festival , one of the biggest music festivals in British Columbia, was abruptly canceled today, because its owners are filing for bankruptcy.

The festival had also tweeted as recently as Wednesday, with everything appearing normal.

Now, the fest is doing the same to those who looked to attend this year's now-cancelled Pemberton Music Festival.

That has since changed, with a banner explaining the situation blocking prospective buyers from purchasing tickets.

"Unfortunately there are no automatic refunds from PMF", the website reads.

"We understand the difficulties that go into the planning and execution of a large-scale festival event", Republic Live Partner Eva Dunford explained in a statement.

"For the past four years, Huka Entertainment has worked to create a one-of-a-kind experience in the most handsome place on earth", read the statement.

In written responses to a dozen questions, the former directors confirmed that the decision to cancel the festival was made Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.

"As a contract producer, Huka did not make the decision to cancel the Festival", said the notice. That has since been remedied, but it's clear that things in the Pemberton Music Festival camp are more than a little out of sorts at the moment.

Sure, the stunt isn't a bad piece of self-promotion for WayHome during a summer when the summer-festival market in the Toronto area seems to be contracting slightly from its explosion just a couple of years ago.

Speaking on the Steele and Drex show, Sands & Associates' Blair Mantin says not everyone can expect a refund. The Trustee will provide an update to creditors in due course.
